NATIONAL & QUEENSLAND AMBASSADOR - Duncan Armstrong
"Being an Ambassador for the Mother’s Day Classic is one
of the most satisfying things I get to do each year. My entire
family now enjoys our very own Mother's Day tradition,
alongside thousands of other BrisVegans, watching the
sunrise at Southbank and stepping out to support so many
girls who can’t. It’s up to us to find a cure to stop our lovely
ladies from leaving us too early because of breast cancer.
So until we find that cure, the MDC will ALWAYS be an
Armstrong family tradition in May."

VICTORIA AMBASSADOR - Jo Hall
"I think most of us have been touched by breast cancer at
some point in our lives. With one in nine women diagnosed
in their lifetime, it seems that we all have a mother, sister,
friend or work colleague who has been affected. A close
friend of mine recently went through treatment for breast
cancer and it was this experience that really hit home for me
just how widespread the condition is.
"With the opportunity to be an Ambassador for the Mother's
Day Classic, I hope that, in some small way, I can increase
awareness of the event and help raise valuable funds for
breast cancer research. The Mother's Day Classic is a truly
proactive initiative that provides people with the opportunity
to make a meaningful contribution in the fight against breast
cancer. I encourage all Australians, young and old, male or
female, to get behind this great event."
Jo Hall is a Channel 9 news presenter.
VICTORIA AMBASSADOR - Lindsay Mullins
“To have seen this event grow exponentially in the last few years
is very gratifying. To see so much love and friendship displayed
at the annual Mothers Day Classic is overwhelming. I have run in
every Melbourne event since 2003, raising over $42000 in
memory of my dear wife Filomena, who passed away in June
2003, after almost three years of illness. Together with our
children, James and Katharine, we always look forward to
running with friends and family on this very important day. Our
aim is to both raise money for Breast Cancer research and to
increase the awareness and importance of regular self
examination and early diagnosis."
Lindsay Mullins has raised $50,000 in the eight years he has participated in the Mother's Day Classic.

NSW AMBASSADOR - Jaynie Seal
"I am so excited to be an ambassador for the Mother's Day
Classic. I, like so many people, have experienced first hand
loved ones passing away from breast cancer, and this is a
great event to raise money for research programs. My
grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she
was aged in her 80s and unfortunately passed away soon
after. I'll never forget this crucial piece of advice she gave
me - to always have a breast check up twice a year.
"Events such as the Mother's Day Classic brings together a
community spirit, and I am looking forward to joining everyone
on Mother's Day morning for a run or walk, and hope this year
even more men, women and children participate - see you
there!"

ADELAIDE AMBASSADOR - Karen Prater
“ I love waking up on Mother’s Day morning, especially now that I’m a Mum, and heading down to Pinky Flat with all the other supporters (it is great to see so many men involved now), and feeling so much love from everyone who joins in on the walk. It’s a wonderful day, and I can’t wait to pull out my Pink outfit and runners for another great Mothers Day on 9 May."

CANBERRA AMBASSADOR - Jessica Good
"Breast cancer affects women, and men, of all ages. The
Mother's Day Classic not only raises vital funding for
research projects to help deliver new knowledge about
breast cancer and how to treat it, it also raises awareness
about the importance of early detection.
"It's an opportunity for survivors to walk together in a
show of strength and support for fellow sufferers, and for
families and friends it can be a way of honouring the memory
of a loved one lost to this cruel disease.
"Having been involved since the first Canberra Mother's
Day Classic, it's been extremely heartening to watch
how much this event has grown locally each year, and
just how much effort participants have gone to - from painting
their hair and nails pink to dressing up in pink tutus. I've also been amazed at how many men - brothers, fathers and sons - have been willing to show their more feminine side and proudly wear pink around the Lake Burley Griffin course in support of this truly worthy cause."
Jessica Good presents Canberra's WIN News bulletin.

TASMANIA AMBASSADOR - Tori Hodgman
Tori says about the Mother’s Day Classic:
“I think the Mother’s Day Classsic is a great event for Hobart
as is the fundraising potential for the National Breast CancerFoundation, an organisation very close to my heart.
In 1990 my beautiful mother Marian (known as Matsi to her
close family and friends) was diagnosed with breast cancer
and after a very difficult 10 years of treatment, she lost her
battle in 2000 at only 60 years of age.
"Since her death I found that the usual anniversaries like her birthday or the day on which she died were not overly difficult
to deal with and were usually spent quietly celebrating her life. Mothers Day was another story. The saturation of advertising leading up to the day made me resentful that I no longer had my mum around, and the actual day was usually spent feeling very lonely and just wishing the day would end. The Mother’s Day Classic has totally transformed Mother’s Day for me. I get to spend the day with hundreds of people in the same boat and we all get to honour our mums together and in addition, I have made friends with some amazing women who I know will be with me for life. It’s an amazing and poignant event and I look forward to donning my pinks every year and enjoying Mothers Day now that is has a totally new meaning for me.”
WESTERN AUSTRALIA AMBASSADOR - Dixie Marshall
"There’s no better place to be on Mother’s Day morning -
surrounded by some good folk, sweating it out for breast
cancer – makes you feel good …my kids do the walk, and
I attempt the run (it’s more of a shuffle if the truth be told!).
There’s actually a whole gang of our mates who now rock
up…we run/walk the event…then head down the beach
for a Mother’s Day BBQ. It’s a lovely morning.”

WESTERN AUSTRALIA AMBASSADOR - Simon Beaumont
"The Mothers Day Classic for ME Bank is a great family
day, my kids and my wife always take part, but it is also
a very moving occasion. We get to meet the families of
breast cancer victims, as well as survivors, and it always
reminds me how important breast cancer research is.
Being part of a nationwide event is tremendous, and the
participants get a healthy walk or a jog in on a Sunday
morning. I hope to be involved for many years to come."
Simon Beaumont is Mornings Presenter at WA's 882 6PR.
