Sydney - Parramatta Mother's Day Classic
The Sydney - Parramatta event involves an 8km and 4km walk and run. If you are interested in taking part in the run or walk then please register here and check out the closing dates for registration below. If running and walking isn't your thing you can still join in the fun of the day by volunteering to help out. Please volunteer here.
Alternatively you can come along and support all walkers and runners and join in the entertainment and activity taking place around the course. All participants are in the running for spot prizes, given out around the course on the day.

Parramatta Park.
The Mother’s Day Classic also takes place at the Domain in Sydney.

- Enter before 5.00pm on Friday 23 April 2010 to qualify for the early bird registration fee.
- Mailed entries close Friday 30 April 2010.
- Online entries close at 12 noon on Wednesday 5 May 2010.
- Enter by Friday 30 April 2010 to have your event information kit mailed to you before the event.
- Team registrations close at 12 noon Wednesday 5 May 2010.
- Registration is available on Sunday 9 May 2010 from 6:45am. Arrive early to avoid the queues.

Teams
Every team member must register individually. There is no special entry form for teams (except if your team exceeds 10 members and one person will be paying for all fees. Please see large teams below).
If you are entering as a team, it is imperative that you all nominate the same team name. We will endeavour to match up variations of team names should this occur however we cannot guarantee accuracy.
Large teams
If you are entering more than 10 members in your team, and a team representative will be paying for the entry fees, please contact mdc_teams@ausrun.com.au or call 1300 762 241 before entering online or by hard-copy form. Entries close on Wednesday 28 April 2010.
All entries received before close of business Friday 30 April 2010 will have their race kit mailed to them. If you register after Friday 30 April 2010, you will need to collect your race kit at the Mother’s Day Classic registration area at Parramatta Park from 6:30am on Sunday 9 May 2010.
Please ensure you arrive at least 30 minutes before your event starts.
Race kits and merchandise will commence being sent from Monday 29 March.
Each entrant will receive their own individual race kit. If you entered a number of people at the same address then each person will be mailed their own race kit. Your race kit will include: race number, participant instructions and tribute card (if requested). These may arrive on different days, even if you entered them all at the same time.
Runners timing bands will not be posted and will be available for collection at the timing band collection marquee on the morning of the event.
If you purchased merchandise, this will be mailed separately to the race kit.
Runners will be timed. All runners will need to collect a black timing band from the Timing Band Collection marquee on the morning of the event. Timing bands will not be posted. The timing band must be worn around your ankle in order to receive a finishing time.
The timing band must be returned at the finish line, if it is not returned there will be a $70 charge. If you accidently take the timing band, please return the timing band to the below address by Wednesday 26 May 2010.

Runners
Runners are required to self seed themselves based on their expected finish times outlined below. You will assemble into these groups at the start line. Runners are not required to identify their wave start time prior to the event.
4km run - 7:30am
1st Group) Under 20 mins
2nd Group) 20:00 – 25:00 mins
3rd Group) 25:00 – 30:00 mins
4th Group) 30:00 mins + (including entrants with prams)
8km run - 8:00am
1st Group) Under 40 mins
2nd Group) 40:00 – 50:00 mins
3rd Group) 50:00 – 60:00 mins
4th Group) 60:00 mins + (including entrants with prams)
At Parramatta Park, all walking and running events begin and end on West Domain Avenue, near the Queens Road Gatehouse. The course meanders through the historic grounds of Parramatta Park, passing landmarks such as Old Government House, the Rotunda and Parramatta River.

We highly recommend that you utilise the extensive public transport options to get to Parramatta Park on race day.
Train
There are two train stations located near the park, Westmead Station (200m) and Parramatta Train Station (600m). Please contact the Transport Info Line on 131 500 or visit www.131500.com.au for detailed timetable information.
Bus
There are several Hills Bus Routes that will drop you within walking distance to Parramatta Park. Please visit www.hillsbus.com.au for detailed information.
Car
Parramatta Park will be closed for parking until after 1pm on race day. There is off-street parking available near by, and also in the O’Connell Street Car Park, near the eastern side of the Park.
To avoid traffic congestion, please try to arrive early.
Cycle
Bicycle parking will be available at the event. Please bring a lock. We cannot accept responsibility for bikes lost or stolen.
There is an information marquee located at the assembly area. If you have any queries please go to the information marquee.
Numbers
All runners and walkers need to pin your event bib number on the front of your top before arriving at the event.
Anyone without an event bib number will not be permitted to start the event.
Please ensure you complete your personal details on the back of the race bib before you start as this information if useful in case of an emergency.
First aid stations
First aid personnel will be located on the course and at the finish area.
Water stations
Water will be provided at the assembly area, on the course, and at the finish line.
Cloak room
A cloak room will be located in the assembly area for storage of your clothing during the run/walk. Bikes cannot be placed in the cloak room.
Please attach the tear-off strip from your race number to your backpack or clothing bag.
Please do not place any valuables in the clothing bags. We cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.
Food court
At the food court in the assembly area you will find coffee and drinks vendors and the Mother’s Day Classic BBQ.
The Mother’s Day Classic includes lots of extra activities for kids and adults. These include warm-up aerobics, roving performers, a food court, entertainment plus a kids activity area with face painting and a jumping castle.
Kids can enter the Mother’s Day Classic to walk or run so long as they have permission from their parent or guardian.
- All participants receive a 2010 medallion, which cleverly converts to a key ring and lanyard.
- The male and female winners of the 8km run will receive $500, kindly donated by………..
- The male winner of the 4km run will receive $500, kindly donated by Australian Super.
- The female winner of the 4km run will receive $500, kindly donated by MMC.
- Age category medals for 4km and 8km runs will be mailed to winners of each age category after the event. Age categories - U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.
- School teams - trophies awarded to the largest school team from a school with 500 or more students and a school team with less than 500 students.
- Largest corporate team wins a magnificent trophy.
- Largest community team wins a magnificent trophy.
- UniSuper Tertiary Team Award - The largest tertiary team from NSW will receive a magnificent trophy. The largest tertiary team to participate in the Mother’s Day Classic nationwide will receive $1,000 prize money kindly donated by UniSuper.
- Highest Individual Fundraiser in NSW - the individual raising the most money will win domestic flights to the value of $1000 kindly donated by QANTAS.
- Spot prizes - all participants are eligible to win great spot prizes including weekend packages, meals and gift baskets.
Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer. Tribute cards can be download from the website, requested via the registration process or collected on day from the tribute card marquee.
A special Tribute Wall will be located at the assembly area. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.
Go to www.mothersdayclassic.org on Monday 10 May for run results. You can also print out an official certificate from the website. Walkers will not be timed.
Presentation ceremonies
The run presentation ceremonies will be held at the completion of each event at the main stage in the assembly area.

Team awards and presentations will be held on the main stage in the assembly area from 10:30am.
Age categories
U15, U18, 18 - 29 years, 30 – 39 years, 40 – 49 years, 50 – 59 years, 60 – 69 years, 70 – 79 years and 80+.
Runner’s age category winners will be listed on the website and medals will be sent out to the winners within two weeks.
- No pets, rollerblades, skateboards or bikes are permitted on the course. Prams are permitted, but please start towards the back of the group.
- There will be a large number of people at the event, so make sure you use the meeting points provided.
- Ensure you keep an eye on your children and organise specific points to meet before the event in case someone gets lost.
- Be aware that you are a pedestrian on public roads and please follow instructions from race officials.
- Please remember to dress according to the weather (warm clothing, rain jacket, hat and sunscreen) and wear comfortable shoes.
