MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC RAISES $2.1 MILLION FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

Congratulations to all participants, fundraisers, volunteers and sponsors who helped raise $2.1 million for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer in this year's Women in Super Mother's Day Classic. A record number of 100,000 people took part in the 2010 national run/walk and raised the highest amount of funds in the event's thirteen year history.

RECORD NUMBERS WALK AND RUN FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

A record number of 100,000 Australians chose to dedicate their Mother’s Day morning to raising funds for breast cancer research by walking or running in Mother’s Day Classic events across the nation. (If you took part and would like to download an official certificate of participation click here)

“The support from everyone across the country is amazing and the growth in numbers each year demonstrates the willingness of the community to embrace the breast cancer cause and this event,” Louise Davidson, National Chair of the Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic committee said. “It is a truly memorable and fun way to enjoy this special day.”

Mother's Day Classic Sydney expands Domain course

The Mother’s Day Classic Domain course is bigger and better in 2010. More people can now join the nation’s favourite charity event at the Domain on Sunday 9 May 2010 with the introduction of a new course allowing more people to participate.

Governor-General launches the Mother's Day Classic 2010

The nation’s favourite charity walk and run in aid of breast cancer research launched today at a special ceremony hosted by its patron the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC.

The Governor-General encouraged Australians to set aside time on Sunday 9 May to participate and to “share in the enthusiastic support that brings out the camaraderie and friendships shared on the day.”

 “I look forward immensely to walking with you in May, and to sharing the greater journey of breast cancer research with you,” said the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC.

Registration opens from Tuesday 9 February 2010

Online registration for this year's Mother's Day Classic opens from Tuesday 9 February 2010.  Sign up to run, walk or volunteer from this date and make it a classic Mother's Day this year.

Raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation's research programs and join in Australia's largest charity event on Sunday 9 May 2010.

You can raise extra funds by setting up your own fundraising page and getting your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you.  Fundraising begins from Tuesday 9 February.

Congratulations to Mother’s Day Classic volunteer Kaye Thomas

Kaye Thomas has been  awarded The Lydia Kauzlaric Award for her outstanding and enduring contribution to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

Kaye has been given this award for her outstanding contribution as a volunteer on the Melbourne Mother’s Day Classic committee since its inception 12 years ago.
