Start times and distances

Do you offer timing services for runners and where can I find my results?

add remove

Timing services are offered to those registered for a Run event at all Major events: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Parramatta, Hobart, Geelong and Gold Coast.

Registered runners will receive a text from MDC timing provider, Tomato Timing, with their timing results or by visiting their race results pages where you will also be able to download a certificate with your race time and distance.

What is the “Embrace and Honour Walk”?

add remove

This is where we invite those who’ve been touched by breast or ovarian cancer to join others at the front of the walk, where we’ll take a moment to reflect on the strength of the MDC breast and ovarian cancer community.

The Embrace and Honour Walk wave was previously referred to as the Stronger Together or Survivor Wave. The name has been changed following feedback from the MDC community to ensure it represents all those whose lives have been touched by breast or ovarian cancer.

To see if your chosen location is having an Embrace and Honour Walk and minute of silence, view the full list of event locations.

Can I change my starting time and/or distance?

Starting times or distances may be changed on Mother’s Day at the registration desk, if your preferred spot still has availability.

Can I change if I am walking or running?

To change if you are walking or running, please visit us at the registration desk on Mother’s Day with your preferred distance and start time. Please note, if changing your walk or run at a major event, you will be asked for an additional $6 fee for the timing tag/bib change to cover the prearranged timing services.

Race bibs

I’m registered for a Mother's Day Classic event. Where is my race bib?

add remove

All race bibs are sent by standard post and arrive approximately three weeks after your registration - provided you registered on or before our postal cut-off of Thursday 17 April!

If your race bib does not arrive in time, don’t worry, you can pick one up on Mother’s Day from your selected event. Check your event page for times. Some local events may also have race bibs available on Mother’s Day.

All participants can also print a Downloadable Bib; the link will also be sent to you in your pre-event information email.

MDC Own Time Own Place bibs will be posted up until the Saturday 31 of May 2025.

Can I order a Named Bib?

add remove
Yes, absolutely! When you register before Thursday 27 March, you'll have the opportunity to personalise your bib at no extra charge. This means you can receive a named bib tailored just for you.

I have downloaded a race bib. Do I need a number to put on the front?

add remove

No numbers are needed, please write your name on the front of your bib and add your emergency contact details on the back.

If you are registered for a running event at a Major Event (Melbourne, Geelong, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Parramatta and Canberra) you will need to use the bib received by post or collected on the day in order for the run to be timed!

Why didn't I receive a tribute card with my bibs this year?

add remove

Tribute cards are not being sent out with race bibs this year due to feedback we have received over previous years that participants prefer to pick one up on event day. You can however download the tribute card (PDF) and print it out to take with you!

There will also be a supply of tribute cards at each Major & Metro event location and some Local events for you to fill out on the day!

There's an issue with my race bib. What do I do?

add remove

Numbered Bibs

For numbered bibs small issues like different distances or times will not impact your ability to participate in your chosen time and distance on Mother’s Day and you therefore do not need a replacement bib. If you are missing a timing tag or it has been attached to the wrong bib, please go to the registration desk on Mother’s Day and they may be able to replace it for you.

Please note, only run waves at major events have timing tags!

Named Bibs

If the name on your bib does not match the information you entered at the time of registration, please collect a numbered bib at the registration desk on the event day.

About the Mother's Day Classic Foundation

What is the Mother's Day Classic Foundation?

add remove

The first Mother’s Day Classic event took place in 1998 and in 2015, the Mother’s Day Classic Foundation (Trust) was established. It is registered as a public ancillary fund and endorsed as having deductible gift recipient status. It is responsible for running the Mother’s Day Classic and conducting other activities in relation to raising awareness and fundraising for women’s cancers. Women in Super is recognised as the founder of the Trust and the founder of the event.

From 1998 to 2023 proceeds from the Mother’s Day Classic were donated exclusively to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to fund breast cancer research. During this period, awareness campaigns associated with the Mother’s Day Classic have focussed on breast cancer.

Over this period:

  • 1.7 million Australians have participated;
  • $47.3 million has been donated to fund life-saving breast cancer research;
  • the 5 year survival for those diagnosed with breast cancer has risen from 84% to 92%,

but there’s still more to be done.

Tragically, the 5 year survival rate for a woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 49% and there is no early detection test. Every day in Australia nine women die from breast cancer, when you add ovarian cancer that number goes to 12 deaths every day. One death is too many.

That’s why since 2024, we’re going further and inviting our participants to walk or run in support of ovarian cancer research, in addition to breast cancer research.

Together we can accelerate progress towards a day where every woman diagnosed with either breast or ovarian cancer will be given the assurance that they can survive.

Where does my registration fee go?

add remove

The Mother's Day Classic Foundation (MDCF) raises lifesaving funds through community fundraising, merchandise sales, online donations and registration fees for the event. Once event administration costs have been deducted, proceeds are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

Participants in the 2025 MDC event will be provided with the option of participating in support of and fundraising for breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research or both. The MDCF will determine the donation to be made to each of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation from the net proceeds of the 2025 MDC event in accordance with the selection of MDC event participants.

MDCF endeavours to keep costs low so as much as possible can be donated. We rely on sponsorship, in-kind support and volunteers in order to help subsidise these costs so we can maximise our donation to research. To-date, the Mother's Day Classic has donated $46.1 million dollars to the NBCF and 1.2 million dollars to the OCRF.

For more information, head to our Where Your Money Goes page.

How will the MDCF communicate with participants?

add remove
All correspondence relating to the Mother’s Day Classic will be sent via a @mothersdayclassic.com.au address. In addition, you may receive SMS communications which will be labelled from MDC2025.
