Fundraising and Donations

General Fundraising
Do I have to fundraise?
We encourage everyone to fundraise, as it is a great way to connect with your friends, family and local community to raise money for life-saving breast and ovarian cancer research, however it is not mandatory.
If you are interested in fundraising, we have some great resources including email templates and social media image tiles in your fundraising dashboard to help get you started. It can be as simple as sharing your personalised fundraising page on social media.
Can a donation be made anonymously?
Yes, anytime you make a donation you can decide if your donation is anonymous by checking the “make my donation anonymous” box.
Any donations made with this box checked will be labelled as “Anonymous” on fundraising pages and our website.
How do I add a donation to my fundraising page that has been given to me in cash (Offline Donation)?
Simply bank the cash into your own bank account, and then add this to your fundraising page by making a credit card donation within your dashboard with the donor’s personal details and email address.
- Go to the “My Donations” section and hit the “add offline donation”.
- Enter the donation amount and the donor's details.
- Enter payment details and hit “donate”
The donor will receive the donation tax receipt via email, just as if they had donated online.
How do I donate a large contribution?
Thank you so much for your fundraising efforts!
Large donations can be deposited directly into the MDC Fundraising account and then assigned to your fundraising page by us. We will also be able to send you a donation receipt directly to your chosen email address.
Please fill out this form to contact us and we will be able to supply you with further detail.
I made a donation to someone but it is not showing on their fundraising page?
There are 3 ways you can donate:
- A donation to an individual - where you go to your friend’s fundraising page and make a donation. This will show up on their page.
- A donation to a team- where you go to a team’s fundraising page and make a donation. This will only show up on the team’s page and not an individual’s page.
- Direct donation to MDC - where your donation isn’t in support of a friend, it’s made directly using the “Donate Now” link at the top right of the MDC website and selecting the donate directly option. This donation will not show up on a participant’s page.
If you think your donation has not been allocated to the correct fundraiser, please fill out this form with your name and email address, and our team will correct this for you.

Are donations to the Mother's Day Classic Foundation tax deductible?

My fundraising page and dashboard
How do I view my donations?
You can easily view the donations made to your fundraising efforts via your fundraising dashboard.
On the “my donations” tab of your dashboard you will be able to see all of your donors and thank them for their support. From here you will also be able to add “offline donations”.
What’s on my Fundraising Dashboard and how do I use it?
If you have completed your registration, a fundraising page is automatically created for you. Access your page by logging in with your email and password.
On your dashboard, you’ll find everything you need to help get you started on your fundraising journey!
'Resources' - here you’ll find posters, social media tiles, fundraising ideas and more to help you spread the word within your networks and local communities.
‘Send Emails’- this is where you can ask for donations.
'My Donations'- keep track of your online and offline donations here.
'All Activity’ - here you can stay on top of your fitness activity and track your steps.
On your dashboard you can also invite a friend to join you and stay up to date with the latest MDC competitions – we’ve got some great prizes in store for you!
What’s the best way to increase my donations?
The best way to encourage donations is to spread the word! Share your fundraising page with everyone you know - friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, they’d love to support you! Personalising your fundraising page is also a great way to show everyone why you are passionate about raising money for your chosen cause.
There are also many fundraising resources on your dashboard. Under the resources tab you can find social media tiles (don’t forget to use #MDC2025), posters, tool kits and much more!
Hosting a fundraiser is a great way to increase your fundraising! Head to the resources tab in your dashboard for posters, flyers and everything you need to set you up for success.

Costs and charges
Where does my registration fee go?
The Mother's Day Classic Foundation (MDCF) raises lifesaving funds through community fundraising, merchandise sales, online donations and registration fees for the event. Once event administration costs have been deducted, proceeds are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).
Participants in the 2025 MDC event will be provided with the option of participating in support of and fundraising for breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research or both. The MDCF will determine the donation to be made to each of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation from the net proceeds of the 2025 MDC event in accordance with the selection of MDC event participants.
MDCF endeavours to keep costs low so as much as possible can be donated. To date, the Mother's Day Classic has donated $46.1 million dollars to the NBCF and 1.2 million to OCRF. For more information, head to our “Where Your Money Goes” page.
Why am I being charged an additional 6% when donating?
This optional 6% contribution helps MDC cover our costs (such as platform fees, banking and credit card fees, administration costs and so forth), meaning that more money can go directly to breast and ovarian cancer research.
If you do not wish to cover this fee, simply uncheck the box when entering your credit/debit card details.

Dual cause
How will funds raised through the MDC be used in 2025?
MDCF has partnered with both the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation to fund vital research that is focused on saving women’s lives.
In 2025, the Mother’s Day Classic will continue to raise funds through community fundraising, online fundraising, donations, merchandise sales and registration fees.
Once event and administration costs have been deducted, proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) to fund life-changing research in accordance with the selection of MDC event participants. MDCF will continue to endeavour to keep costs low, so as much as possible can be donated.
How will the MDC determine how much to donate to each cause?
How is my donation split if I am fundraising for both breast and ovarian cancer?
Where a donor or participant selects both breast cancer research and ovarian cancer research, proceeds will be evenly split.
Can I change which cause I am fundraising for?
Once you have selected which cause you are participating and fundraising in support of we are unable to change your selection as members of the community may have already started donating to your fundraising page based on your selection.
What if my team is fundraising for a different cause than I am?
We appreciate that members of a team may wish to support breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research or both! If someone makes a donation to a team (rather than a member of that team) that donation will be allocated to whichever cause the team captain has specified.
All donations made to individuals within a team however, will be allocated to whichever cause the individual has specified.
Will participants still be encouraged to dress up in pink?
Yes, the Mother’s Day Classic is not changing, it is expanding its impact. On Mother’s Day we will continue to stand stronger together in a sea of pink and teal in major cities, metro areas and regional towns across the nation. Pink is the colour of the MDC and represents the women, girls, mothers and families we celebrate and honour on Mother’s Day.
Everyone is encouraged to celebrate and honour those touched by breast and ovarian cancer in whatever way (or colour!) they choose. If you are feeling unsure, check out our pink and teal merchandise here!
Will the Mother’s Day Classic be supporting women’s causes other than breast and ovarian cancer?
