Our team is participating in the Mother's Day Classic, Sunday 11 May!
We are joining the Mother’s Day Classic to help raise funds and awareness to fight breast and ovarian cancers.
In September 2024, at the age of 39, Casey was diagnosed with hormone receptor positive breast cancer in addition to ductal carcinoma in situ. After an initial lumpectomy, she underwent a double mastectomy with an immediate DIEP reconstruction using her tummy as the donor site. Having battled cancer before, undergoing a double mastectomy wasn’t a complicated decision for Casey, although it was an incredibly difficult surgery and long recovery process both physically and mentally. Casey has 10 years of endocrine therapy ahead (and probably a revision surgery or two) but the horizon is looking good, the same cannot be said for many others.
Tragically, every day in Australia 63 people diagnosed and 12 lose their lives to breast or ovarian cancer.
