Supporting Breast Cancer Research
I'm putting my foot down to stop breast cancer in its tracks!
A note for my Wife.
On Dec 18, Our life as we knew it was changed forever. Sarah was told that she had Stage 4 breast cancer and that it had metastasised and spread to her lymph nodes and bones. Unfortunately, this is not curable, but it is highly treatable.
Sarah is a highly devoted mother to our 3 beautiful children, Eva 9, Isla 7 and Max 3. If she isn’t at work as a Client Manager for Woodards Real estate then she is taking the girls to Netball, Basketball and juggling to take all 3 to birthday parties or play dates at the park. She lives a very active social life many say. She has many friendship groups including lifelong friends still from kindergarten and primary school. She has lived her whole life in Sunbury and has worked in many suburbs in the West. This means we rarely go out and not see someone that Sarah knows, we often have friends say, “you know everyone Sarah”. Much like Sarah's family she is well regarded and well liked across our community. And if there was ever a time to prove that that is now.
We have just celebrated our 10-year anniversary however not in the way we had planned but just as special, nonetheless.
Sarah was diagnosed with the Her2 tiple positive cancer. This type we know is a very common type amongst younger women under 40. There is a lot of light shun on older women or men that are more likely to get breast cancer. However, if there is one thing that I have learnt in all this it is that cancer does not discriminate. Sarah one day decided to check her breasts and was left shocked and worried when she felt something she hadn’t felt before. Unlike some, she immediately had it checked. Sarah had a 3cm lump that potentially had formed over many months.
At that point, time proceeded to fly very quickly. it was within a matter of just 10 days from when she found the lump to when we were told that she was stage 4. During that period, she had a Mammogram, and Ultrasounds, a Pet Scan and multiple blood tests. As you can imagine this turned our lives completely upside down. We went through the emotional roller coaster that cancer causes everyone, however Sarah has kept being the positive strong women she is even continuing to work to provide for the family even as she attended the Peter Mac centre for treatment.
Sarah has a long battle ahead of her. Because of her diagnosis she will need to continue treatment every 3 weeks for the remainder of her life. We have had a massive overwhelming response from family and friends, and we will never be able to thank everyone enough for their support.
While she is continuing to battle for time, I am going to put all my effort into fighting this beast, to give her and everyone effected by breast cancer the forever they deserve. This can only happen with the treatments like what Sarah is receiving. The treatments can only happen from the research the amazing people do to create them, and the research can only happen from all the generosity of others through fundraising and awareness.
This year we have called to arms everyone that Sarah has touched in her life to join us for the Mother’s Day classic to help raise funds and awareness to fight breast cancer.
Tragically, 57 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. 12 Australians lose their lives to these awful diseases every day.
Please help and support me and our family by joining us and or donate to our team.
The funds raised go directly to research for a cure and to give everyone the forever they deserve.
Support my efforts in the 2024 Mother’s Day Classic!
